------ / o | | \___|__ | ____ | | ___E | \__ __/ _| | |_ (___|___) The Glump Epsilon Zeta Volume 17, Number 2 Alumni Association Alpha Phi Omega September, 1996 _____________________________________________________________________________ Editor's Corner: Welcome all to the next Edition of the EZAA's GLUMP newsletter. You may notice that the News and Notes section of this newsletter is a little thin this time. That should be your cue to send me info on what's going on in your life or that of a brother that you would like to rat on. Also, please feel free to use E-mail to drop me a quick line, but don't forget to send your dues by U.S. mail! (Sorry, but EZAA cannot accept electronic transfers at this time.) The 50th is now less that a year away as I write this so mark your calendar and get psyched (see inside for more details). A quick preview of what's inside: 1) Current status of the EZAA and the Treasury. 2) A letter from our President. 3) News and Notes. 4) Minutes from the last meeting, 4/14/96. 5) A request for Sectional Staff help. 6) Reminder on the future gatherings (Fall Reunion, The 50th Reunion). 7) An article on the 50th Anniversary Reunion. 8) More Secretary Stuff and the Next Newsletter 9) Info and 1996 dues forms. Before we get started, two reminders: (1) The Fall Reunion Business Meeting will be on Sunday, October 6, 1996 at 11 AM. This meeting is a voting meeting and all EZAA member are encouraged to attend (see inside for more information). This will be the last full Brotherhood Meeting before the 50th Reunion. (2) The active brotherhood will be working at a Boy Scout Camporee on Saturday, October 5th and would appreciate any help from the alumni. Check the board outside the office at RPI (or call ahead) for details. Yf, Andy Moroney (HCS) _____________________________________________________________________________ THE GLUMP Page 2 Treasury Report Now that things have slowed down a little (i.e. my son, Connor, actually sleeps through the night every once and a while), I actually had time to look last years records and close out the year. Surprisingly enough, I manage not to misplace the records in all the recent upheavals and the books actually balance. Here's how the year looked from a "global" perspective (Details are in last issue): Starting balance for 1995: $ 1093.57 (after Liabilities) Total Dues/Donations: $ 1300.05 Total Expenses for 1995: $ 845.24 Ending balance for 1995: $ 1548.38 This does not include the $190.00 that is held by the EZAA for the 50th Gift. The bank balance for the year stood at $1738.38. All-in-all, a pretty decent year. Since that data is now out of the way, where are we today? As I said in last issue, "Things are going 'okay'". To date, thirty-seven people have registered for 1996. Many of our registered members have been generous with donations as well. In addition, the Fiftieth Anniversary expenses haven't hit the Treasury yet. This is due to some swift dealing on the 50th Committee part (the hotel and banquet facilities do not to require a deposit to date). So we have some breathing room. Below is an account of the EZAA finances to date: Initial Balance (Carry forward from 1994) $ 1738.38 Income: 1996 Dues received: $ 370.00 1996 Donations received: $ 175.00 1996 50th Gift donations received: $ 75.00 Total 1996 Income to date: $ 620.00 Liabilities: Donations toward the 50th Reunion $ 265.00 Expenses: Printing Costs for Winter '96 Newsletter $ 149.09 Mailing Costs for Winter '96 Newsletter $ 172.80 National Registration Fees (1996) $ 15.00 Total 1996 Expenses to date $ 336.89 Bank Account Balance as of 4/1/96 $ 2021.49 Available Cash as of 4/1/96 $ 1756.49 However, to balance this cheery news, there are the expected expenses for this coming year: Printing costs of the Summer '96 Newsletter (estimated) $ 150.00 Mailing costs of the Summer '96 Newsletters (estimated) $ 200.00 Mailing costs for the 1996 Directories $ 210.00 In addition, $500 has been allocated to the 50th Anniversary expenses. This is money basically given to the 50th Budget and we do not plan to "make" it back (it will serves for incidental expenses/deposits and , yes, I do collect/ track receipts). Also, within a reasonable span of time, the EZAA will resume it's RPI Scholarship program and return to the practice of awarding Alpha Phi Omega Life Memberships to Chapter DSK award winners. These are things the EZAA use to do before our "intermission" and we will hopefully be resuming (but more on that at a later date). THE GLUMP Page 3 ("Treasury Report" con't) Yearly Dues for this calendar year (1996) are now due. This newsletter has the proper form for those interested (the above should pretty well explain what happens to the money). As always, donations are also welcomed. Donations earmarked for special causes (like the 50th Anniversary gift and/or celebration) are also welcomed and should also be marked as such on the check and in the dues forms. Note: Donations to the 50th Anniversary Gift are tax deductible and are eligible for company matching funds contributions (as of this year). See Rob's report in this newsletter for more information and where to send donations. And last but not least, a quick thank you to all the helpful Brothers who noticed that the Income column of last newsletter in the Treasurer's Report did not match the Income total. The total was $130 higher than the supporting numbers. I had somehow forgotten to mention the $130 collected for the 50th Gift despite the fact that I listed the donated money as a held Liability (Hmmmm...I guess it's time for a new Treasurer....). However, all the sub- totals and total were correct, as was the sums held by the checking account. Yf, Andy ("Send lawyers, guns, and money!") Moroney _____________________________________________________________________________ News from the President Hi All, Welcome to the fall. Just two notes on upcoming events: 1) Please come to the October EZAA meeting. It is truly the last time that enough of us will be together prior to the 50th with enough time to make our reunion what we want. There is much to be said and next year is too late. 2) An account has been set up with RPI (many thanks to Paul Sicard for doing the ground work and asking the right questions) to enable funds donated for EZ's 50th to be increased with corporate matching funds (if your employer is into that sort of thing). Contributions should be made out to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and sent to: Office of Development - Margery Whiteman 110 8th Street Troy, NY 12180 Checks should reference Alpha Phi Omega and (if possible) the 50th Gift. That's it for now, hope you had a great summer! Yf, Rob ______________________________________________________________________________ News and Notes: Often repeated: This is your section. Please help me fill it! Beyond a doubt, this is the most important (and most read) section of the GLUMP (and I have had many Alumni tell me such). Many people sent in donations with names and addresses, but no news! We want to hear what's going on in your life. We care (well...most of us do anyway...)! TELL US! Note: When submitting E-mail copy, please include your full name and class, especially those from CompuServe (c), any military installations, or using University class accounts. New news will be printed in the August newsletter. THE GLUMP Page 4 ("News and Notes" con't) John A. Rasmussen '68 "Greetings from the deep south -- After moving around the country and changing positions for awhile, I finally landed in South Carolina (the past 11 years) and settled in for the duration. Married to Debora Lee, with four children: Kristen (married with one daughter, our only grandchild), Jon Erik (active duty with the Marine Corps in Okinawa), Chuck (working in construction in Anderson, SC), and Jessie (fourth grade at Crosswell Elementary School). We live in Easley, SC. I work for Greenville County Emergency Medical Services as Education Coordinator; a little change from a major in "geology." I did get a Ph.D. in Health Care Administration when I changed the direction in which I was working about 1979. Debbie works as a system status controller for American Medical Response of SC in Anderson. We look forward to the rest of this summer with dread as the beginning has been hotter than usual, and very dry. Anyone who gets down this way, feel free to get in touch with us. I enjoy reading about the rest of the people who have joined the ranks of "alumni" and seeing what diversification has occurred with others. My e-mail address is: rasmusjar@gcl.greenville.lib.sc.us" Mike Cutter '70 "My thanks to whomever tracked me down up here and put me on the mailing list. I moved to Alaska in 1975 to work for the State Division of Aviation. After 12 years in various project management positions, I switched to Human Services when the economy collapsed in '87. I am now a certified Substance Abuse Counselor in a mostly AK native community of 5,000 about 400 miles west of Anchorage. I've been married 5 years to a Yupik Eskimo woman (Cecelia) and we have a 2-1/2 year old adopted Yupik son (John). Having a family is great." William C. Springer, Jr. '70 "Not much new with me. I'm still thoroughly enjoying retirement. I've done a fair amount of traveling around the country and plan to keep doing it. The real world has other plans though at the moment. The house needs work and carpentry in the snow is no fun, so the agenda for the next couple of months is 'Fix the House.'" George R. Davis '72 "I recently passed 20 years with Goodkind & O'Dea, Inc., a NJ-based consulting firm specializing in highways and bridges. I've been back in scouting for about five years - 2 years as Webelos Den Leader and Cubmaster of a pack with almost 100 cubs, a year as Assistant Scoutmaster, and since its startup in 1994 as Scoutmaster of a new Troop. My son Michael is a Star (almost Life) scout, and daughter Megan is a Junior Girl Scout. My wife Pat is involved in both - particularly as committee member/treasurer and gofer (the hardest job) for the troop. I can be reached at "GRDRV@aol.com"." Steve Coughlan '75 "Children are now 13 (Kate) and 10 (Bill). CJ (Butler, '76) is now President of Dasytec, USA - but she's also the only employee. I'm still at Digital, working on the Internet." Doug Michael, '75 "Highlights of the past year or so include family vacations during which we finally caught up with Steve Herman '74 in Boston, and Bryan Goddard '76 and his family in down state NY. I always wonder what my calling would be if something drastic (I mean more drastic) happened to my vocation. Steve, who makes a terrific tour guide, need not wonder. The Goddards, who we hadn't seen since our oldest kids were about one (now they're getting ready to drive) are doing well also. More recently, old roommate King Gee and his family came THE GLUMP Page 5 ("News and Notes" con't) through western NC and spent a couple wonderful days with us. The Michael hotel is open and available -- please call for reservations. Work (we're down to three docs in our family practice) and lots of church and family activities keep Mimi and I and the four kids happily (but probably a bit too) busy." Pat McCarthy '77 "I got a new position at Republic, as Area Supervisor of Metallurgical Investigations, back to the same group where I had my first Co-op assignment. Now I get to train the new "kids." Marian is a part-time Director of Religious Education. Watch for Christina (15) in the Pro Football Hall of Fame Parade, with the flutes in the Perry High School Band. Stephen (12) and Michael (9) are enjoying the summer in the pool." Ed Miller '77 Marvin Schwedock ('77) and Ed Miller ('77) got together recently for a long overdue reunion at Marv's home in Yorba Linda, CA. Both are continuing their Chemical Engineering careers. Paul Bicknell '78 Paul and Linda are still living in Watertown, MA where they occasionally play host to Andrew Rossbach when he comes up from D.C. Whenever that happens, they usually invite Andrew's old roommate, Ken Bienstock, over and watch bad movies. Kathy Goff (KOG) '78 "It's true - as reported in the last newsletter, I graduated from U.Mass. Medical School on June 2. This is a lifelong dream come true. To celebrate graduation and my 40th birthday which occurred in April, I rented a camp in NE Connecticut and threw an overnight party with contra-dancing, a potluck dinner, swimming and canoeing and a blessing ceremony for my doctor-hood. The party was attended by 75 friends and family members, including my 95 year-old grandfather, Kate and Jim Robertson ('80), and Ken Bienstock ('81)." Audrey (Michaelis) Holm-Hansen ('78) attended graduation and Al Stone ('76) helped with the packing in preparation for my move to Connecticut. I will do my Family Practice residency at Middlesex Conn. Hospital in Middletown. Heart-felt thanks to all the Brothers who have supported me through this med. school adventure. You have sent everything from letters to love to chocolate and I am ever grateful." Valarie Wrobel '81 and Mark Wrobel '85 "We have moved back to San Antonio. Mark finished his PhD in September of 1996." Diane Julia Esemplare '84 "I've recently started a new job. The company is General Ceramics, located less than 2 miles from my home. My job entails technical support to the metallization group. A big part of it is trying to convince the supervisor that in-process documentation is a good thing. Mark and I are renovating our house. We have a full attic, which at present is a huge, uninsulated space. We're hoping to get it usable by the end of the year." Grace Shuman '84 "I just came back from a three week trip to Atlanta for the Olympics. I got a chance to see gymnastics, swimming, baseball, basketball and track as well as some unusual sports like shooting, archery, and team handball. It was so exciting to actually be there to see the competitions and the medals awarded. I did so much that I needed to come back to work in order to rest!" THE GLUMP Page 6 ("News and Notes" con't) Steve Joy '86 "Steve Joy here, your friendly neighborhood Rush chair. Yes, I'm still at RPI. No, I don't know when I'll graduate. Yes, I am insane. Anyway,... trying to run Rush this semester (we need a good one). If anyone out there has any great Rush-like ideas, send them to me. If any of you will be in town in late August or September, we could always use another pair of hands. Or, if you are feeling generous, we always could use a donation (you remember how bad Price Chopper soda was). Send me mail at "joys@rpi.edu" if you have ideas or want info." David C. Panagrosso '86 "As of September 21st, 1996, I will be married to Ellen Fritz, and will have moved to Coventry, CT. I met Ellen a few years ago in my volleyball league." Robert Philhower '86 "I will have married Elaine Shapiro, a music teacher from West Haverstraw, June 23, 1996. Elaine just finished serving as an accordion player in a local production of "Fiddler on the Roof!" Before that, she was Musical Director for "A Chorus Line" in a "Y" production." Sharon Zohar '87 "Still in Connecticut. Still working for the same consulting firm. Still going for an MBA at night. Stepped down from A Phi O staff - after 5 years, I needed a break. Doing some traveling; building a local chapter of WITI (the International Network for Women in Technology). I am now Mom to a gorgeous baby blue parakeet named Ripley." Debbie Miller '88 "Work has been keeping me fairly busy. Four trips to Belgium since Sept. '95 for a total of about 4 months, doing site integration, training, and testing. I came home from the first trip just in time for the wedding of my sister Karen to Jeff Krauss (both of Phi chapter). At the end of the last trip, I took my vacation and drove around Europe for a couple of weeks. Quite an experience." Lynette Mokry (Bailey) '89 Lynette and Doug have been very busy lately ("what else is new!"). Part of it is their jobs, but a bigger part is their new house in Jamesville, NY. They love it there, and wish everyone the best. Scott Leapman '91 "I'm currently at IBM, where I've been employed since graduation as both a contractor and as a regular employee. I've been bouncing between Boca Raton and Austin (TX), but it looks like I'll be staying in Austin for a while. I recently bought a house and intend to settle here a bit. I've been keeping in contact with my BB (Amy Lin) at TI, and all is well. My dog, Wilma, and I live happily in North Austin. Although I'm not too active in general community services, I am becoming more involved in Cornerstone, the Gay/ Lesbin/Bisexual Community Center that just opened here, and still enjoy helping others." Jeff Lukins (Ffej) '91 "Greetings from Huntsville, AL. Married life keeps me busy. My wife Stacy and I have been married just over two years now. She just graduated from the University of Alabama in Huntsville with a BS in CS and is looking for a job. THE GLUMP Page 7 ("News and Notes" con't) I've been busy managing a growing network for the Army's Software Engineering Directorate, but I'm always keeping my career options open. Stacy and I are soon to be leaving for seven or eight days of much needed vacation in North Carolina's western scenery." **************** In Memory **************** John Walter Carlson ('51) was employed at IBM in Kingston, NY as an Electrical Engineer and was active with the Boy Scouts for 60 years. He was in the Army during WWII and a Naval Reserve Officer. He was 76 years old at his passing. Walter M. Firra ('52) died of kidney failure on May 10, 1996. ______________________________________________________________________________ Minutes from the Spring EZAA ECOM Meeting April 14, 1996 Meeting called to order at 11:05 AM President, Rob Rommel * Rob has passed out copies of the by-laws for review. - Matter of interest for ECOM to find out what they are actually suppose to do. * Service project for the next (and all following) Business Meeting should be run by Alumni when possible according to National office. - Rob and George Hassa (VP) will take care of this with the chapter. - Will try to have the next project mentioned in the August newsletter. * Ken Bienstock will discuss all issues on the 50th. * Rob is going to try and get the RPI Alumni Office to handle the mechanics of the matching funds. (Editor's Note - See President's Report). Treasurer, Andy Moroney * We need to get address updates for graduating seniors - Ken Bienstock & Paul Lavoie take the action item to update the database. * Now that the treasury is up and running again, it's time to get the APO Alumni Scholarship and the Life Membership Awards for Distinguish Service Key recipients restarted. - Fell into disuse due to the hiatus of the EZAA during '93-'94 season. - The Chapter has not awarded a DSK for some time. - As finances stabilize, we will be able to resume this. - May want to hold off until after the 50th is settled. * A written list of Alumni Traditions and possibly a set of "Standard Rules" may be useful in case of another disruption (Rob has already put past records to use). * As an outgrowth of the previous discussion, the matter of locating "external" EZAA mentions/records from RPI's archives was brought up. - The current Active Chapter President will check RPI archives for any "interesting items" and make the request of RPI so that we can get any interesting memorabilia for the 50th Anniversary Reunion. * In addition, the Large Fraternity Composites should be gathered again (they seem to be in various places). - The Active Chapter will look into what can be done. * The Secretary/Treasurer still needs to get Alumni Service Participation information to Paul Lavoie for use in creating a Services Directory. * Andy Braverman will get a list of National Lightbearer information to the Treasurer. THE GLUMP Page 8 ("Minutes from the Spring EZAA ECOM Meeting" con't) Extension Chair, Ken Bienstock: 50th Anniversary Reunion * There was a problem with previously chosen date for the 50th. * Many Alumni contacted Ken to report that the previously chosen weekend conflicted with Mother's day. * The Desmond Americana didn't have any of our back-up weekends available. * So, we have now moved the Anniversary Date to Labor Day weekend, 1997. * We have arranged with the Desmond to handle the 50th Anniversary Reunion as a full convention. * This allows us extra facility usage and special discounts including a $80 night room rate (up to four people per room). * Room reservations are set as follows: 170 rooms are booked for Friday, August 29th. 200 rooms are booked for Saturday, August 30th. 100 rooms are booked for Sunday, August 31st. * For Friday, most activities will be at the hotel-lodge and pool areas. * On Saturday, there will be several service projects. These will be either half day and/or whole day projects. Other half of the day could be spent touring R.P.I. Lunch will be at the service project. The banquet that night will be a buffet dinner. After dinner there will be a dancing room and a quiet conversation room with a cash bar in each. * Sunday morning will be a Brunch and the formal Business Meeting. * For those who wish to hang around after the Business meeting, possible optional items for Sunday may include trips to: 1. Lake George Cruise 2. Saratoga Race Track 3. Howes' Cavern 4. Cooperstown Baseball Museum. * We would also like to have activities for the children (especially Saturday) and we would like the parents to help in running them. Things should be family oriented. However, we need to do more brainstorming for this item. * Souvenirs still need to decide on. * Ken is also looking into a group trip to begin just after the Reunion. * Motion proposed: Motion to give $500 from the Alumni funds to the 50th reunion for expenses. * Motion passes unanimously. Member at Large, Andy Braverman * Plans to resurrect the Historian portion of the position and set things in motion for the Historical part of the 50th. President of the Active Chapter, Steve Hinterneder * The Chapter is currently at 23 actives members. * They are having the usual problems with cliques, but are dealing with them and feel that things are under control. * The Chapter Treasury is also safely under control. * The Chapter is currently looking for a new safe for the Office. * As of the EZAA ECOM meeting, they have gathered a total of 800 service hours. * The use of Project procedures have been reinstated. * Plans are in the works to upgrading the computer system. * Four pledges have started this semester. (Editor's Note: It may interest folks to know that at the time of writing, the EZ Chapter has signed on 16 Fall Pledges. Kudos to the Fall Rush team). Business meeting closed at 12:35 PM. Adjournment to the 76 Diner. _____________________________________________________________________________ THE GLUMP Page 9 Calling all Brothers: A Request for Section I help. DJ (Byrne) class of '87 (through '91) has issued a formal request for help. Apparently, he has managed to somehow get himself named Section I Chair. However, he apparently needs to recruit more staff to keep things running smoothly. As such, he'd like to collect some contact info for alumni in that Southern California area. If you happen to be interested in pursuing a position on Sectional Staff please contact DJ directly at: DJ Byrne 3235 Florecita Drive Altadena, CA 91001-4121 E-mail: dj@haagar.jpl.nasa.gov _____________________________________________________________________________ THIS IS IT: Last Alumni Weekend and Fall Business Meeting before the 50th We need YOUR help NOW!!!. Ken is asking for ideas for the Reunion as well as comments about previous reunions (what was good, what didn't work out etc.). We also need people to help out on committees and actually get the work done. Some committees (Like the Hotel and Banquet Hall) are already at work, but they need more help! Many of you volunteered at the 45th Anniversary to help out with the 50th Anniversary (I took names and still have the minutes - ). Time for the follow-through! A good place to start is the Fall EZAA Reunion. The Annual Fall EZAA Reunion will be on October 5th and 6th at RPI (this was mentioned in the last newsletter). As always, the Fall Reunion also includes the EZAA Business Meeting. The time of the meeting will be 11 AM, on October 6th, 1996. Primary topics will be Officer voting and (of course) the Fiftieth Reunion Celebration. All EZ Alumni are encouraged to attend and contribute to any discussions. As always, there will be events with the active brothers during the course of weekend. George Hassa will be in charge of events and chapter coordination. The service project will be a Boy Scout Camporee. The Active Chapter would like extra hands from the Alumni to help out. Contact the Chapter for more information (or check the board outside the office for meeting times and directions once you get to RPI). EZAA members planning to attend are requested to contact one of the EZAA ECOM members or the Chapter so as to allow for head-count at activities. If you cannot make it, but would like to contribute, please feel free to contact any of the current EZAA E-Comm members (especially with the 50th just around the corner). This is in 11 months, so please put it on your calendar now (time is ticking). Cindy Smith (50th reunion hotel & banquet chair), Rob Rommel (EZAA President), and Ken Bienstock have met with the hotel and started planning many of the activities. They have many initial ideas and already started to share them (see this newsletter and the past one), but they still need lots of help in the planning and organization of the weekend. Please let Ken know which activities you would like to help plan. His preferred communications is via the E-net, but phone and US mail also work. Many of the activities will be held at the Desmond (previously the Desmond Americana - same owners) in Albany, New York. The Desmond is the nicest hotel in the Albany area. Our goal is 200 to 300 alumni returning, and with spouses and children this means up to 500 people. Here are some initial plans for the weekend. These are still just ideas at this stage and your input and help would be greatly appreciated. 50th Reunion Activities: * Friday Night Arrival Party at the Desmond Hotel (Hors d'oeuvres and Ice Cream Sundae Buffet). * Saturday Service Projects at RPI and/or Troy (option to attend in morning only, afternoon only, or all day). * Saturday tour and activities at RPI (option to attend in morning only or afternoon only). * Saturday Activities for Children including meals: Day trips and activity rooms at the Desmond Hotel are planned, but ideas and help are needed. There should be different activities for each age group (Please help us out!). * Saturday 50th Buffet Dinner Banquet at the Desmond Hotel (including dancing in the Ballroom and jazz in the Adirondack Lodge). * Sunday Buffet Brunch and EZAA Business Meeting at the Desmond Hotel. There also may be optional Labor Day Weekend Extension activities for those who choose to hang around longer on Sunday or into Monday. These may include trips (on Sunday) to Saratoga Racetrack, Lake George(with a Dinner Cruise), Howe Caverns, or any other ideas people happen to have. Other "extension" activities may include a Monday Buffet Breakfast, or, for the real adventurous, a 1 to 2 week vacation somewhere (like maybe Tauk Tour of the Rocky Mountains starting Sunday or Monday). THE GLUMP Page 11 Here are some other details on the Desmond Hotel: * The room rate is $80.00 per night (1 - 4 people) for the 50th Reunion (reduced from $134/$98). * There are 170 rooms reserved for Friday night, 200 rooms reserved for Saturday night, and 100 rooms reserved for Sunday night. * Alumni should reserve rooms many months in advance so the Desmond Hotel doesn't start taking rooms away from us. Information will be sent out when to start making hotel room reservations. (Check next issue of the Glump). We are very excited about the weekend. It will be great to see everyone again after so many years and we are planning a fantastic weekend! ______________________________________________________________________________ More Secretary Stuff and the Next Newsletter Before I sign off, a few quick notes. The 1996 Alumni Directory will be distributed shortly. All those who paid dues and requested one on the dues form will get one. If you do not receive one by year end, please contact myself or Ken Bienstock. (Ken mails them out, but I give him the lists.) Note: For confidentiality reasons, only hard copies are available (sorry!). An E-mail distribution of known EZAA member addresses is available for anyone who wants it. Those interested in a copy or who wish to add their own E-mail address should contact Ken Bienstock. Please help keep this up to date. Also, if you wish to receive the EZAA newsletter through E-mail instead of the U.S. mail service (and save us the postage), please send me E-mail at the addresses above. The membership form at the back of the newsletter has a line for Alumni to list any service organizations that they belong to (or know of as worthwhile). Paul Lavoie is compiling a community listing of these service-minded organizations available for the EZAA, especially for those moving into a new towns, looking to get involved. The deadline for the next Glump is January 1, 1997. This will be for the Winter '97 edition. This is the last newsletter before 50th Reunion, so it's a good place start getting psyched. All are encouraged to submit articles, news, notes, etc. As always, those who don't write anything, take the risk that the editor (or worse yet, their own friends) may do it for them. If you know of any substantial gathering of Alumni (i.e. Regional Alumni Association Gatherings, large parties, etc.), please write in! Party/gatherings advertisements for yet to happen events are also very welcome. Yf, HCS _____________________________________________________________________________ Dues and Information Form: We are still calling for (or is that "begging for?") 1996 Alumni dues. The 1996 dues are still only $10 per member. (What a bargain!) Everyone who pays dues gets the satisfaction that they are helping the EZAA fulfill it's mission. For the less civic minded, they also are entitled to an Alumni directory (which may be even more satisfying). Below is the form for submitting news/notes and for paying EZAA yearly dues. Donations over and above dues are always welcome to help us serve you better. THE GLUMP Page 12 ("Dues and Information Form" con't) Even if you have already paid dues (or are strapped or cash), *PLEASE* fill out the address and/or information section and send that part in. With the 50th practically on our door step, it's important to have the database correct. Also, your fellow Brothers want to hear from you. (Yes, they mention you frequently.)
