After hearing of St. Jude's predicament, APO members volunteered to begin typing out book pockets, card catalog cards, and spine labels, and organizing the books using the Dewey decimal system. To date, APO members have cataloged more than 300 books for the school. "We just can't say enough for them," Larkin recently told the Troy Record newspaper. "They’re helping us grow in leaps and bounds." APO is a national, co-ed service fraternity dedicated to the principles of leadership, friendship and service. Rensselaer’s APO chapter was founded in 1947, and provides many services to the local community and campus, including a used book exchange and a lost-and-found office, among others. |
