Notes from the Active Chapter
The past year saw twenty new brothers inducted into the chapter, twelve in the fall semester and eight in the spring. In addition, Jean Purtell was made an honorary member of Epsilon Zeta for her many years of dedicated service to chapter and student body as a whole. The active chapter continues to run the campus lost and found, used book exchange and back test files service from their office in the student Union.
The active chapter has been busy over the past year with a wide variety of activities. Service over the year included projects with Joseph’s House homeless shelter, Oakwood Cemetery, Habitat for Humanity, Vanderheyden Hall and the Albany Free School, among others. In the fall semester the chapter volleyball team made it to the finals in their league. Membership and fellowship activities over the past year have included trips to Denny’s, a pool party and a friendly competition between family trees consisting of events such as tree shirt making and an EZ version of “Iron Chef.” In the spring the chapter hosted the Meanest Man on Campus competition during GM week, raising over $1500 for Engineers Without Borders.
