60th Anniversary Wrap-Up

This past fall the Epsilon Zeta 60th anniversary weekend was hosted at RPI on the weekend of August 31. Over 75 alumni and family members attended the weekend. An informal welcome reception was held Friday night in the Union allowing time to chat, grab a small snack and peruse recent scrapbooks.

Saturday morning provided a chance for active brothers, alumni and their families exercise their service side helping the Capital District Habitat for Humanity build two houses in Albany. At midday on Saturday tours were hosted by an active brother, giving alumni a opportunity to see the changes that have taken place on the RPI campus.

On Saturday afternoon the business meeting was held in the CII. The meeting began with officer elections and then moved on to lively discussions on donations, alumni association activities and finances. The distinguished alumni award, last given over ten years ago, was put back on the ongoing activities of the EZAA; an award recipient will be chosen every five years. Nominations for the current alumni award, to be retroactively awarded for the 2007 award year, are currently being accepted (see last page). Finally, donations from the EZAA were made to the Capital District Habitat Humanity to support ongoing work and to the active EZ chapter to help offset the cost of the upcoming national convention. The donations were in the amount of $500 each. The full meeting minutes, along with past meeting minutes, can be found on the EZAA website.

The weekend culminated with a banquet on Saturday evening held in the Heffner Alumni House.

In addition to the events above, alumni were asked to provide donations to the EZAA to be used for a gift to RPI. Just over $5000 in donations were received. This money is tentatively set to be used for a veterans plaque to be placed on the Approach.
